Pulse transformers in power electronics are generally used for transmitting a signal or a controlling pulse between electrically isolated circuits. The pulse comes from a circuit with a low voltage level while the secondary part is connected to a higher voltage. This problem appears in thyristors and Triacs firing, and in power transistors control. The high isolation voltage through the pulse transformer protects the controlling circuit against transients from the power circuit.
MAGSOL has series of pulse transformers intended to use in all the electronic applications. The PT series has as main feature its high isolation voltage between primary and secondary windings and between secondary windings. This fact makes this series especially suitable for applications where the galvanic separation bet-ween both circuit parts is one of the most important design parameters. Also, it offers very high voltage-time integrals values, up to 2000µVs.
The Pulse Transformer has some formats with a special winding method that allows to obtain very small rise times. Additionally, they are available in Surface Mounting format, suitable for reflow soldering.
